Blow for repairs as thieves target Scout hut

Thieves have stolen roofing materials valued at around £600 from the 1st Filton Scout hut in Nutfield Grove.

Thieves have stolen roofing materials valued at around £600 from the 1st Filton Scout hut in Nutfield Grove.
The pieces of guttering and facia were being stored outside the hut due to their size and the thieves scaled a fence to get in and remove it.
The theft means essential repair work cannot now be done until funds are raised to replace the stolen items.
A spokesman for the group said: "We’ve been working to improve the hut over the last few months and  had some long pieces of new guttering and fascia board stored in the grounds outside the hut (it was too long to be easily stored inside).
"Unfortunately at some point  - we think between Christmas and New Year – it was stolen.
"The guttering is quite unusual because – due to the size of the roof – it’s larger than domestic guttering.
"It might not sound much but it had cost the group £600 which is a fair amount for a charity to lose.  It’s very frustrating as the essential maintenance now needs to be put on hold until we can afford to replace it. The jockey wheel for our trailer was also taken."
The matter was reported to police.
