Cheswick Village ... welcome to Filtonvoice

Filtonvoice is proud to welcome residents of Cheswick Village, near Abbeywood Retail Park, to readership of the magazine.
This relatively new community sits behind the MoD and Abbeywood Retail Park, with the majority of the houses in South Glos but a number in Bristol.
As a community, there is a lot going on and we will be getting to know the issues, events and achievements of this community in future months.
Earlier this year the community was at the centre of a row over Broadband with residents in the Aurora Springs segment claiming they did not have access to proper internet connections - as some homes did not have landlines.
Part of the estate in South Gloucestershire was being upgraded to Superfast broadband in early 2015 but another larger section serving more than 400 homes was not planned to be upgraded as well due to BT claiming it was not ‘commercially viable’.
Residents were told they would have to fund the infrastructure to upgrade to fibre broadband, a sum amounting to tens of thousands of pounds according to campaigners.
But after a massive campaign, led by residents including Sejal Hampson and the intervention of MP Charlotte Leslie along with former city councillor Sean Emmett, residents were promised a resolution.
